A
belated welcome to all new residents and tenants residing
at Stonehurst Close; StoneVillage and the East and
West sides of the Estate. We hope that you have settled
in and are enjoying living on the Estate.
We
have attached an Estate telephone list to assist you
with day to day communication on the Estate and also
to assist you should there be any emergencies.
Those
of you who have purchased plots on the West and East
sides, should you not have submitted plans for review
by the Design Review Committee or started your build,
we encourage you to do so as soon as possible.
Plan
submission and construction has slowed down mainly
due to the recession but despite this we have 32 single
residential homes under construction and 36 families
have completed their homes and have moved in.
Preparations
for the AGM are under way and we request that should
you have any queries that you would like raised at
the AGM, please forward these to Diane Smith at Cape
Classic in writing via e-mail: diane@capeclass.co.za.
This will assist us in ensuring that the AGM does
not run over time.
Exciting
news for the Estate, Stonehurst has been declared
a new habitat for the endangered Western Leopard Toad.
Their breeding season is during August when they migrate
over Westlake Drive to their breeding site at Westlake
Golf Course. Should you encounter a toad on the road,
please gently pick it up and place it on the opposite
verge in the same direction as it was travelling.
More information on these creatures can be obtained
via the internet: www.leopardtoad.co.za;
www.sanbi.org/leopardtoad/main.htm
or ToadNUTS (Noordhoek Unpaid Toad Savers).
There
have also been sightings of falcon species and a rare
glimpse of the black eagle pair breeding at Silvermine.
The grass carp have been munching their way through
the pond weed in the detention dam despite the competition
from the Koi, which mysteriously appeared in the dam.
Please do not release any fish species into the dam
and streams as they will find their way into the waterways
downstream.
There
is also evidence of porcupines on the Estate, therefore
if your Arum lilies suddenly disappear overnight the
“thief” is mostly likely to be a porcupine.
Please respect all wildlife on the Estate and contact
either Estate Management or Security should you find
an injured animal or bird or if you require assistance
in removing a “creepy crawly” from your
residence.
We
hope your children are enjoying the jungle gym on
the West side and we will be planting grass and trees
in the area.
Despite
initial teething problems, the biometric access control
is working optimally and we request that all residents
and tenants register their domestic workers and or
gardeners at security. Our security personnel undertake
regular patrols, during the day and at night, inside
and outside the Estate.
